- Then fill the trench with lava leaving a space of one block above it ( i used an inventory editor called inv. edit it is a really good bit of software here is the link http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=15921 this software was not created by me but it allows ou to place things like fire , water and fire in your inventory which is really useful for creating traps
